Costa Rica Rainforest Experience

Chachagua Rainforest Hotel & Hot Springs has 94 hectares of secondary rainforest. These lands adjoin the 23,000 hectares of the Eternal Children’s Forest, Costa Rica’s largest private natural reserve; which makes it a biologic corridor of some predominant species in the area such as Gray-headed Kite, Double-toothed Kite, White Hawk, Giant Parrot Snake, zopilota, False Fer-de-lance, White Spotted Glass Frog, Small Headed Tree Frog, Greater ac-winged bat, Howler Monkeys, 2 & 3 toed Sloth, different species of ants and butterflies. Some native trees are: Jacaranda, Ceiba, Aspidosperma, among others. Freshwater fish like: Silverside, Bigmouth sleeper, Macabi Tetra, that can be seeing in our rainforest.
Species of flora and fauna converge in both high and lowland forests, making the area a strategic spot for bird watching.
A study by the Soltis Center for Research and Education in the area has reported sighting of around 309 species of birds, among them the impressive King Zopilote. We invite you to take our guided talks along our trails for birdwatching or just be on the balcony of your room to enjoy the songs of different multicolored birds.
So different is the night of the day, as is the experience of the Rain Forest at sunset, where many of the species come to active life when getting dark. It is a natural exhibition for all the senses, the singing of the frogs in the hotel gardens and around the rooms is one of the fastest and easiest to perceive by our guests.
Take advantage of the great adventure of walking in the evening accompanied by our guide to discover the secrets of the forest in the light of the moon, different animals can be spotted with the guide`s help. Witness the forest activity from a different perspective in relation to the day activity.
